Perfect for couples, this delightful period property offers original charm, contemporary convenience and a fabulous sought-after location close to walks, shops and eateries.

Located in the picture-postcard village of Talybont-on-Usk, this stunning period property is surrounded by a fabulous selection of quaint cafes, cosy pubs, and artisan stores. From the village, enjoy peaceful strolls along the River Usk, or pull on your hiking boots and take on some of the region’s highest peaks, including Pen-y-Fan (11 miles). The inviting cottage makes an idyllic couples’ retreat; enjoy a little cwtch in front of the crackling wood burner before congregating around the dining table for an evening of great food and laughter.

The Georgian property exudes elegance and houses a wonderful collection of antique furniture and accessories. At the heart of the home is the cosy lounge/diner, with a roaring wood burner, where you can snuggle up on the plush sofas to watch TV or lose yourself in your favourite book. Come together around the table in the kitchen to plan your itinerary over breakfast, or enjoy memorable mealtimes at the dining table in the lounge/diner, admiring the far-reaching views across the valley. On the ground floor, there’s also a storeroom where you can keep bikes and wash muddy walking boots. The property has two beautiful bedrooms, a king-size and a super-king-size, both with TVs and en-suite facilities. Outside, unwind on your veranda, looking out over the breathtaking Welsh countryside.

The vibrant market town of Brecon is just 7 miles away. Wander amongst its pretty Georgian buildings, tuck into a delicious slice of homemade bara brith in one of the charming cafes then take a tranquil walk along the towpath of the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal. Escape from it all at Talybont Reservoir (3 miles). Pack a picnic to share on its banks, admiring the spectacular reflections, before climbing high above the water to visit the mystical Blaen-y-Glyn waterfalls.

We enjoyed our stay at this interesting cottage. It was very comfortable and it was lovely to sit and enjoy the view from the bedroom and watch the sheep. The owner, who lives next door was very helpful and promptly sorted out a minor issue. We enjoyed being able to do some good walks from the door for example, along the canal, Talybont reservoir wRead morealks etc. The cottage is well placed to easily visit places of interest in the aea. Thank you for a lovely relaxing holiday. Hide

The property is generally lovely with everything we needed. However it adjoins the owner's house and their radio could be heard sometimes through the wall. There are no doors downstairs so no way to stop the noise travelling. The lights are on automatic which is OK unless you get up at night, when the lights stay on for longer than needed and cannoRead moret be turned off. Hide
