Just 2 miles from Raglan, this characterful cottage with oak beams and exposed stonework is the perfect romantic bolthole for your self-catering getaway near the Brecon Beacons.

Relax and unwind in style with your loved one at this gorgeous former coach house just 2 miles from the lovely village of Raglan. Overflowing with country charm and original features, it’s the perfect fairy-tale hideaway for two. Surround yourself with beautiful oak beams and exposed stonework at this romantic country retreat sitting in 7 sublime acres of breathtaking countryside.

Kick off the perfect day with freshly brewed coffee on the pretty patio. At lunchtime, stroll hand-in-hand down the short footpath to the neighbouring woodland (shared with the owner). Grab a seat at the bench and enjoy your picnic and the lovely country views. Later in the day, come home to your rural retreat and make your way to the traditional oak kitchen in the cottage’s open-plan lounge/diner/kitchen area. Create a culinary feast for two and dine over candlelight in the dining area. Alternatively, step outside, strike up the BBQ and dine alfresco on the patio. Later in the evening, retire to the living area to snuggle up on the sofa in front of the wood burner, or pour yourself a glass of something fizzy and head up the spiral staircase for a relaxing soak in the Victorian-style claw foot slipper bath. After that, you can’t fail to have a good night’s sleep in the elegant bedroom.

Spend a morning in the pretty village of Raglan (3.5 miles), where you’ll find the mighty Raglan Castle, one of the grandest castles ever built by Welshmen. There are some nice pubs in the village too. For a day out with a difference, hand-feed the resident alpacas at the Amazing Alpacas farm (7.5 miles). Or, if you want to try out some local delicacies, don’t miss Abergavenny’s traditional Tuesday market (11.5 miles), where you’ll find 200 stalls to browse.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

The host is to hand, friendly with local advice and recommendations but at the same time not in your face. Perfect location for short distance touring of the BrecoRead morens. Hide

Coach house is quirky, has all the comforts you need and is in a countryside location with lovely views. Easy to find and not far from the A40. Some noise from the main road but not much. Owners on hand if anything needed and very nice to chat to. Nice walks in the area - although the public footpaths are not always managed as well as they could beRead more so we had to cross a few rickety stiles with barbed wire and negotiate overgrown nettles! The whole property has been cleverly renovated. Hide

Lovely, beautiful cottage. Make sure you take slippers as it can be a bit chilly while the log fire gets going!
