Nestled in a totally secluded hideaway, this sympathetically restored railway carriage has its own very special story and offers you the most peaceful and romantic haven imaginable.
This gorgeous shepherd’s hut makes the perfect romantic bolthole for a couple wishing to escape the hustle and bustle. Situated in a private meadow in the Herefordshire countryside near Hay-on-Wye, this delightful escape is uniquely designed and has its very own wood-fired hot tub for you to enjoy.
The restored railway carriage has reclaimed sleepers doubling up as a delightful sun-trap balcony. Inside, you will be welcomed by rustic charm, a traditional wood burner and a comfortable king-size bed with views across to the mountains. The kitchenette is created from an old water tank and has plenty of space to rustle up some lunch or a quick breakfast before heading out to explore. Outside, you will find an old grain silo that has been converted into a bathroom with a shower. The ornate wood-fired hot tub has been handmade by the owners and is filled with pure spring water. Also outside is a large fire pit, deck chairs and a double hammock. Get back to basics and cook an al fresco meal over the fire and enjoy the natural surroundings.
Straddling the English/Welsh border, this spot lets you explore both country’s countryside and market towns. The historic, literary town of Hay-on-Wye is situated 6.5 miles from here where you can explore the independent shops, walk along the River Wye, or simply enjoy a delightful bite to eat. You will also be on the cusp of the Brecon Beacons National Park with its plethora of paths, trails and bridleways to enjoy. Hop in the car and try your hand at rock climbing and other activities at Llangorse Multi Activity Centre (18 miles).
