Hay-on-Wye is within walking distance and is a great place to spend your time, there is also a large variety of shops, pubs and eateries as well as a theatre and a cinema to discover. Explore the stunning scenery of the Brecon Beacons National Park on foot, with access to the rugged landscape of the National Trust’s The Begwns, where you can enjoy spectacular views, or take on the Hay Bluff and Twmpa where you gain further access into the Black Mountains. Both the Wye Valley and Offa’s Dyke trails run through Hay-on-Wye, offering traffic-free walking.

This rustic silo is simply charming, set within the grounds of Cwmhir Court enjoying views across the Wye Valley towards the Black Mountains. Here, couples can truly get away, relax, and enjoy the countryside. This silo has been cleverly converted with an eclectic twist of both old and new. Step into the silo where the ground floor offers a well-equipped kitchen space with electric oven and hob, microwave, and fridge with ice compartment and there is a simple breakfast bar with two stools. There is also a double bedroom where guests can enjoy a peaceful night’s sleep and an en-suite shower and a hairdryer is provided. There is a separate WC. To relax in the sitting room, climb the curved wooden staircase to the top of the silo which is a circular room and takes up the whole of the first floor. Here you can sit back and enjoy the stunning views or relax  in front of the TV.

Outside there is a small decked area with a table and two chairs. Guests also have access into the grounds where you can set off on well waymarked footpaths.

Definitely quirky but not romantic or luxurious! Facilities quite basic (shower in cupboard!) and no proper cooker so meant eating out or very simple meals. Lovely setting and outside space. Nice responsive owners when had issues. Location great for Hay-on-Wye which had cafes and pubs (recommend Cosy cafe for breakfast & lunch, Tomatitos for tapas Read more& Shepherds for ice cream) plus the all important bookshops! Castle grounds with deckchairs to chill and eat toasted sandwiches from cafe. Hide
