A romantic, unique property to make you feel at one with nature but within easy reach to local amenities so you’re not completely isolated

We love a stay where it feels totally off the beaten track, yet in reality it's really very easy to get back to the real world, find the shops and stroll to the pub, this property pulls this off with ease!

Hidden away in a wooded valley, the setting is breathtaking & the Shack has its own story to tell. Originally a writers cabin, the book, "The Man Who Made things out of Trees" saw owner Rob cut down a native Ash Tree to discover just how many things could be made from this marvellous tree (44 it happens!). Many of the things made, can be found within the structure of the property today, as well as lashing of home comforts and stylish touches, courtesy of Rob's wife, artist Vicks.

The outside space is fantastic and includes a huge oak deck for lazing and lounging, perfect for barbeques and toasting marshmallows, complete with table and chairs for dining under the tree canopy. The hammock by the stream is there for lazy afternoons with a book and a glass of something chilled. Throughout the woodland, which is private to you alone, there are handy piles of firewood and a number of native birds which can be seen and heard throughout the day.

Inside the Shack, there's a cosy sofa for two, nestled by the wood burning stove, with jolly blankets and bright coloured dining chairs overlooking the woodland. The kitchen has been handbuilt, with several items from Rob's tree to be found, as well as being well kitted out with a proper fridge, electric cooker, pots and pans etc.

The bedroom is intimate and romantic, with proper double bed, hand made wooden panelling and hanging rails made from the branches of Robs tree. There's a proper shower with hot and cold running water, as well as a basin and loo, with towels and soap included. The indoor space has been designed to take full advantage of the setting, with large windows bringing as much of the outside in as possible.

The Shack treads lightly with its eco footprint, however unusually for a glamping site, it does have mains electricity, so charging iPads etc. is really very easy, there are board games and plenty of holiday reads available too.

An incredible romantic setting, surrounded by native trees, birdsong and the hills of the Brecon Beacons National Park...utter bliss!

Had a wonderful stay in the Wood Shack. Cosy and comfortable, we lit the woodburner, and tried to name all the birds we could see from the windows! One day we went up to Hay-on-Wye and visited the Castle; and the next we had a lovely walk up to Sugar Loaf, then a pint in the pub on the way back. Very relaxing, and would love to go back sometime.

Lovely place to stay. It kept us nice and warm and it was lovely waking up and watching the birdies fluttering about eating their breakfast. Fantastic location and very quaint cabin. No complaints at all. Would definitely visit again. Also worth mentioning the Crown, the pub nearby. Such a friendly environment and wonderful dishes.

Just had a few days in the Woodshack. I want one! Wow! What a beautiful spot! Nothing but the birds and squirrels, and the stream babbling away. Mindfulness is now well and truly topped up. Great location for walks, food, drink, and a bit of 'r & r', and the Sugar Loaf, which we didn't quite get a weather-window for, maybe next time :-)
