We love a stay where it feels totally off the beaten track, yet in reality it's really very easy to get back to the real world, find the shops and stroll to the pub, this property pulls this off with ease!
Hidden away in a wooded valley, the setting is breathtaking & the Shack has its own story to tell. Originally a writers cabin, the book, "The Man Who Made things out of Trees" saw owner Rob cut down a native Ash Tree to discover just how many things could be made from this marvellous tree (44 it happens!). Many of the things made, can be found within the structure of the property today, as well as lashing of home comforts and stylish touches, courtesy of Rob's wife, artist Vicks.
The outside space is fantastic and includes a huge oak deck for lazing and lounging, perfect for keeping warm around the fire bowl and toasting marshmallows, complete with table and chairs for dining under the tree canopy. The hammock by the stream is there for lazy afternoons with a book and a glass of something chilled. Throughout the woodland, which is private to you alone, there are handy piles of firewood and a number of native birds which can be seen and heard throughout the day.
Inside the Shack, there's a cosy sofa for two, nestled by the wood burning stove, with jolly blankets and bright coloured dining chairs overlooking the woodland. The kitchen has been handbuilt, with several items from Rob's tree to be found, as well as being well kitted out with a proper fridge, electric cooker, pots and pans etc.
The bedroom is intimate and romantic, with proper double bed, hand made wooden panelling and hanging rails made from the branches of Robs tree. Next door there's a proper shower with hot and cold running water, as well as a basin and loo, with towels and soap included. The indoor space has been designed to take full advantage of the setting, with large windows bringing as much of the outside in as possible.
The Shack treads lightly with its eco footprint, however it does have mains electricity, so charging iPads etc. is really very easy, there are board games and plenty of holiday reads available too and no WiFi or mobile phone signal so you can truly get away from it all.
An incredible romantic setting, surrounded by native trees, birdsong and the hills of the Brecon Beacons National Park...utter bliss!
