This superb, off-grid property is situated in an idyllic spot just on the cusp of the Welsh border. A group of six friends and family are welcome to escape here, where you can enjoy a slower pace of life. Head to the area’s popular market towns, set off on foot or cycle to the superb trails into the countryside or take some time out to unwind.

Perched on a hilltop, this home is thoughtfully designed in the eco-friendliest way possible. It has an energy-efficient wood burner, uses natural materials throughout, and is powered by solar and wind energy. However, this does not take away the character of the home, with exposed oak beams and inviting spaces to enjoy. The contemporary kitchen has a large range oven while the utility room houses a boot and hanging rack for mucky clothes and shoes after a busy day exploring. Get comfortable in the lounge or catch an early night in one of the delightful bedrooms. Outside is a superb decked terrace with garden furniture, a BBQ and an acre of enclosed gardens for you to enjoy. To the front of the house is secure bike storage.

This charming market town of Presteigne is on the Herefordshire and Powys border and has some independent shops, eateries and its own arts and music festival in the summer. The popular Offa’s Dyke trail runs nearby; the whole route is 181 miles and passes through three Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Visit the vast and enchanting Radnor Forest with its great moorlands, valleys and hills. The scenic falls of Water-Breaks-Its-Neck is 12 miles from here, located in the popular Warren Wood. Explore the undulating trails and see if you can spot any wildlife.

Amazing as always, we are regular visitors and love the place, it is so relaxing and we are already booked in twice for next year, can't fault this property in anyway and wish it was my home. Absolutely stunning views and well equipped breathtaking property. There was nothing they had not thought about. Enclosed safe garden for the dogs and a beautiful decked area wonderful for a bbq overlooking the rolling hills. Mr and Mrs Maguire are the most thoughtful people and left us bread, butter, milk, eggs, bacon and wine on arrival. Parks Cottage was everything we could have asked for in a holiday base. The cottage is very well equipped whilst retaining a relaxed homely atmosphere. Superb! Location, amenities and cottage excellent. Spotlessly clean and the items of local food provided was a lovely touch. All of the furniture and fittings have been chosen with care and blends old and new wonderfully. No flatpack IKEA here!! From the bedlinen and large fluffy towels to the fully equipped kitchen you have everything you need. SiRead moretting on the deck looking over the valley with a glass of wine is bliss. The cottage is set in stunning surroundings with magnificent views. The only neighbours are sheep, which are not there all the time, so it is very tranquil. It was spotlessly clean, with a very high level of welcoming provision (based on quite a wide variety of experience). Everything you could need is available. We would return in a heartbeat.

When we booked the Parks Cottage, we thought it looked beautiful. When we arrived we were blown away! the photos/info don't do it justice. It's an incredible property in an absolutely stunning location. We have visited Parks Cottage many times and always have a wonderful time, rain or shine. Accommodation very comfortable and all you need is provided. Also welcome pack is much appreciated. Views are stunning even on a grey day.

This "cottage" is perfect. The space, equipment and location are all great and what a view from the back of the house. Comfortable beds. The owners made us very welcome. A great place to stay.

This house is amazing! The engineering that was used to build it was incredible. We loved looking at the photos of the build on the walls. It was very interesting. The property was spotless and spacious. There are amazing rugs and items of furniture which have history. The kitchen was well equipped. The cottage was beautiful with really high quality fixtures and fittings. The grandchildren loved the Hansel and Gretel style scandinavian bed frames. The views were sublime and although we were initially worried the hot water or electricity may run out due to being off grid our fears were totally unfounded. Would love to return.
