Enjoy a getaway to this wonderful woodland cabin, set near Craswell, close to the Brecon Beacons National Park, some 7 miles from Hay-on-Wye. Sleeping two guests and also welcoming a pair of very happy hounds, the delightful, one-bedroom lodge is set on a farm where you can dip in a swimming hole, explore 17 acres of grounds and even enjoy a donkey experience if you choose. Savour the serenity of the setting and the glorious landscapes of both England and Wales that are accessible from your base.

Find your way through the leafy garden to the veranda and let yourselves in to discover an open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. With an abundance of wood and carefully chosen furnishings, including some with a distinctly Wild West feel, the lodge is immediately welcoming. Light the wood burner to enhance the cosy ambience, settle on the soft seating and find a film to watch together on the TV/DVD. Prepare a homecooked meal and dine together inside or out before heating the water for washing up and tucking yourselves into the comfortable double bed. Wake up to enjoy an invigorating hot shower, inside the cabin, with a WC, then enjoy breakfast out in the enclosed garden before heading out for the day. Find parking for one car with the woodland lodge.

Indulge in long walks through the Black Mountains straight from your holiday home: hike 2 miles to reach the edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park. Venture into the renowned book town of Hay-on-Wye to peruse the many second-hand stores, as well as the galleries. Find pubs, restaurants and cafes here for dining out. Spend a few hours in Abergavenny, 15 miles away, too. This popular market town is a great place to shop for local produce.

Frontier Lodge is the perfect place if you want to get away from it all. The views from the cabin are beatiful. Walks from the cabin are lovely. We fell in love with thRead moreis place and will come back. We left feeling happy and relaxed after what we could only describe as a soulful retreat. Thank you Sue and John for a much needed escape. We will come back. Also a kiss for all the beatiful animals and a special one for my favourite gorgeous gentle giant of a donkey called Smokey.
