Retreat to this gorgeous Welsh lodge, where you can go fishing, walking or simply soak in your private hot tub and gaze out at the beautiful scenery. A perfect couple’s bolthole, and also welcoming two delighted dogs, this charming, one-bedroom cabin overlooks a large pond on land close to Garth in Mid Wales. Venture into the Brecon Beacons National Park to follow footpaths; pick up the 50-mile Epynt Way at Llangammarch Wells, 2 miles away.

Make your way into this bijou abode, set in the grounds of the owner’s property but enjoying privacy, to find everything you could possibly need during your special break. The accommodation here centres on an open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner/bedroom, with a bright, fresh appeal. Relax in here after long days out exploring your surroundings: settle on the comfortable seating to watch a film on TV or read a few pages of your book. Prepare a romantic dinner for two and then dine together at the table or out in the fresh air. Lay your head in the double bed at night; awake to enjoy an invigorating shower before discovering what the day has in store for you. Have breakfast out on the balcony as you look out over the water. Return home at the end of the day to bubble in the hot tub with a glass of something chilled. Find parking for two cars at the lodge.

Head 5 miles into the market town of Builth Wells to walk by the River Wye and see the remains of the castle and ancient church. Spot the four giant redwood trees planted in Groe Park just before famous cowboy Buffalo Bill visited the town in 1903. Drive 16.5 miles into Brecon to spend the day pottering around the town. Plan a day out to Hay-on-Wye, 24 miles away.
