In a glorious location beside The Dulas Brook, this cottage is perfect for a family get together. Potter amongst the wild ponies or stroll to the bustling town of Hay-on Wye for a little retail therapy.
Stroll into Hay-on-Wye when you stay at this delightful retreat 1 mile outside the famous book town. Sleeping seven guests, the four-bedroom former mill cottage overlooks the Dulas Brook that runs along the border of Wales and England in this scenic corner of the country. With a wood burner for winter evenings and a patio for summer sunshine, the dog-friendly cottage is also well positioned for forays further into Bannau Brycheiniog, also known as Brecon Beacons National Park, and walks along Offa’s Dyke.
Wander into the 18th-century Welsh cottage to find a mixture of original character and modern-day comfort. Cook roast dinner in the electric oven, using the delicious produce you have bought in Hay-on-Wye, then gather in the dining room, after lighting the wood burner in the stone chimney breast. There is also underfloor heating here. Stroll through to the lounge to fire up the second wood burner on autumn and winter days and to settle down to your favourite TV programmes. Play games and read your books in here too. There is also a handy utility room downstairs. Climb the oak stairs when you are ready to turn in for the night. Upstairs, you will find a king-size and a double, each with a TV, as well as a twin and a single. There is a family shower room and a family bathroom. There is a lawn to the front of the cottage and a patio to the rear, where you can unwind with a glass of wine as the sun sets.
Make the most of your position on the edge of the Brecon Beacons to find picturesque footpaths to follow and hills and mountains to climb. Head into Hay to browse in book shops, have afternoon tea in a cafe and go canoeing on the River Wye.
