Set in a remote hamlet, in the heart of the Welsh countryside, this cottage is the perfect place to switch off and relax. There are a plethora of walks in the immediate area, along quiet country lanes, and slightly further afield you’ll find Pen-y-Crug (9 miles) and the Epynt Way (2 miles). You’ll be 6 miles from the fringe of the Brecon Beacons National Park, and the vibrant market town of Brecon is 10.5 miles away. The cottage has a sociable, open-plan layout and outside you’ll discover a patio for al fresco dining and an enclosed paddock that’s ideal for four-legged visitors.
The cosy farmhouse is bursting with character, with fabulous, exposed beams and stonework. The open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner is warm and inviting thanks to the roaring wood burner that’s set in a stunning ornamental fireplace. Rustle up a tasty meal in the kitchen area to share together around the dining table. After dinner, enjoy a little cwtch on the sofa in front of the TV/DVD or curl up in the plump armchair with a book. The two light and bright bedrooms – a king-size and a double – are located on the first floor. Outside, dine in the sunshine on the patio, take a lazy walk down to the river, or sip a morning coffee as you wander around the paddock.
There are some beautiful walks to enjoy in the area, including Pen-y-Crug which is the site of an Iron Age fort. Immerse yourself in history with a climb to its summit, whilst admiring the jaw-dropping views across the town of Brecon and the national park. You’ll find plenty to see and do at Llangorse Lake (18 miles), the largest natural lake in Wales. Follow the footpath along its western shores or hire a paddleboard to majestically glide across the water.
