  • Surrounded organic farmland offerings lovely views
  • Remote location with Welsh ponies and wildlife your only neighbours
Property code: BN330

A magnificent stone Welsh longhouse that sleeps up to five people, this cottage offers total peace and tranquillity with scenic rural surroundings.

A traditional Welsh longhouse sprinkled with rustic charm and situated in an untouched corner of the Brecon Beacons National Park, this magical hideaway is perfect for a family or group of friends with a couple of mischievous pups in tow. Hike through the ancient UNESCO Fforest Fawr Geopark across snow-dusted mountain terrain, quarries, and crags before sinking onto your sofa to warm chilly toes and paws in the crackling glow of the wood burner.

This characterful property features a quintessential country interior with wooden beamed ceilings, checked soft furnishings, and a stonework inglenook fireplace. Pad along the slate-tiled hallway to the beautiful farmhouse kitchen with wooden worktops and shaker cabinetry. Whip up your freshly sourced farm goodies, pour a generous glass of wine, then gather around the opulent oak dining table and feast below the ambient hanging lights. Wind down with a film and indulge in a sweet treat in front of the roaring fire in the lounge. Head upstairs to find three inviting bedrooms, including a double, a twin, and a single with a pull-out bed. Open the French doors and hear the chirping of local wildlife as you perch on a wicker chair with a book and a morning coffee or get lunch sizzling on the BBQ in the lush, enclosed garden.

Take advantage of the surrounding organic farmland and embrace the novelty of sheep trekking, turn your hand to wool felting, or tackle the pigmy goat agility course with your new hoof-footed friend. Venture into the historic town of Brecon, 15 miles, and explore the magnificent arches of the 17th-Century cathedral or browse the galleries. Soak in the tranquil mountain wilderness and sweeping views with a hike to the summit of Pen Y Fan, 14 miles.

For people like us who love walking straight from the door/watching birds and wildlife/relaxing in peace and quiet, the location is superb. Luckily the weather was fantastic and we enjoyed a variety of walks with stunning views of the wonderful landscape. The cottage is" traditional-rural" but comfy and well-equipped; we particularly appreciated thRead moree generous store of logs for the wood burner which we used on several evenings, also the second freezer stocked with farm products for sale. The cottage had everything that was required to make you feel really at home. It is ideally located as a base to both walk and tour in the Brecon Beacons. There is an abundance of wildlife in both the area near the cottage and further afield.

Cottage is rustic, peaceful and quiet, idyllic setting. It was lovely to wake up to the sounds of cows and sheep in the fields. Very well equipped kitchen. Beds were so comfortable which was very welcome after a day of walking round the beautiful countryside. If you want a relaxing holiday in a gorgeous location I recommend this lovely cottage.
