A real woodman's cottage set in the tranquil woodlands, wake in the morning to the symphony of birdsong and wind down at the end of the day in front of the crackling wood burner.
One of the best ways to appreciate the Brecon Beacons National Park is to find a spot that’s surrounded by rural splendour, and this cottage is the perfect example. Secluded by woodland, the property oozes period charm and tranquillity yet is within easy reach of Brecon with its array of shops, eateries and galleries. Head out to explore and you’ll be quickly rewarded with oodles of scenic trails.
The heart of the home is the quirky kitchen, a fantastic space with high ceilings, clever storage and all the equipment you need to prepare and enjoy your evening meal at the farmhouse-style table. Once you are full-bellied and weary, the lounge offers a relaxing nook to unwind in front of the wood burner until it is time for bed. A steep wooden staircase leads upstairs to the bedroom, a cosy retreat decorated in a traditional style with a king-size bed. There’s also a single bed on the landing for those travelling with a child in tow. Outside, the small terrace has a BBQ and a natural garden setting for extra-special evenings stargazing and dining alfresco.
The vast estate has 2 miles of double bank fishing for trout and salmon, so it is best to avoid the riverbank if you are not a keen fisherman during peak season. Venture into Brecon 1.5 miles away and browse the independent shops and galleries, pausing to watch glass blowing in action and visiting the museum. There are plenty of pubs, cafes and restaurants to choose from too, or why not pick up some tempting local produce to enjoy back at the cottage. For walkers and cyclists, the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal is one of the most scenic routes in the country and promises jaw-dropping views for all levels of ability.
