Set at the southern tip of Snowdonia and overlooking the beautiful Dyfi Estuary, this fresh and airy fisherman’s cottage is a lovely retreat for families making the most of this stunning coastal area.

Choose whether to soak up the sunshine and the superb sea views from out in front of this delightful cottage or up on its private sun terrace. Sleeping four guests, and also welcoming two dogs, the two-bedroom abode sits right on the waterfront, overlooking the estuary at Penhelig, on the outskirts of Aberdyfi, North Wales. From here, it is just over 0.5 miles to the village’s beach. Plan days out into Snowdonia, in which Aberdyfi nestles, or make the most of the property’s exceptional position by relaxing and taking in the views.

Wander into the sunny, three-storey cottage to find yourselves in a light-filled, open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, with underfloor heating. Unwind in here in front of the TV or DVD player; throw open the French windows on warm afternoons and find everything you need in the kitchen area to help you prepare delicious meals with your own ingredients when you decide to dine in. You have a handy washing machine and tumble dryer at the cottage for beach towels and swimming costumes. Make your way up to the first floor to find a twin bedroom and then up a steep, narrow, cottage-style staircase to the second floor to the double bedroom and the family bathroom. Dine up on the viewing terrace or out in front of the cottage as often as weather permits. You will be given one permit for the pay and display car parks in the village, one of which is just 150 metres from the cottage.

Head off into splendid Snowdonia to immerse yourselves in the beautiful scenery and follow footpaths and cycling routes, or have a go at outdoor pursuits, such as climbing, caving and canoeing. Visit beauty spots, such as Dolgoch Falls, 10 miles away, and the serene lake at Llyn Myngul, 13.5 miles away.

Terrific accommodation. Great facilities, everything you need, laundry wise, dish washer, smart TV, Amazon speaker. Lovely terrace with top notch views. Lovely town, just enough shops, a great post office the other end of town beyond the railway bridge. A few bars, pubs and restaurants. A chippie . Huge beach ....

This is a stylish, well-kept cottage in a stunning location - absolutely fantastic views and an easy walk to good pubs and restaurants. The best part of the cottage was the spacious front terrace - perfect for morning coffee, an evening drink, or even an informal meal. However, although we realised there was no parking, we did not realise that therRead moree was no possibility to drop off luggage and supplies at the house before continuing to the public car park 150 yards - and a steep hill - away. Perfect cottage for us in a lovely spot. We loved being near to the coast whilst being in Snowdonia and all that has to offer. We loved the train, spectacular journey. We used it as a lovely way to visit Harlech Castle. Recommend the Britannia Inn, independent pub, lovely food and lovely people.

Great cottage with super views and all necessary facilities. However, the steel stairs both inside and outside to deck would be a problem for the unfit and small children. Michael (York)
