This charming property, situated on the edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park on the beautiful Llanover Estate, is perfect for couples and small families. Sleeping four over two peaceful bedrooms and with space for the dog to join you, no one needs to get left behind here. Arrange a visit to the 15-acre Llanover Garden with the owner, or simply enjoy your own private garden where a small orchard bears apples and pears between August and October.
With views of the Black Mountains from many of the windows, it’ll be hard to leave this cottage. Wooden beams, stunning flooring and a beautiful exposed stone fireplace in the lounge beckon you to curl up on the sofas in front of the TV after a long day. Cook up delicious meals and eat them in the farmhouse-style kitchen diner or head out to the garden for an al fresco bite among wonderful countryside views. Up the steep curved staircase with lots of quirky features as it winds, two bedrooms await; both the king-size and the twin room benefit from exposed beams and tranquil decor. There are even beams in the traditional bathroom where there’s a bath for sumptuous soaks and a separate shower.
Don your walking boots and head to Llanthony Valley (9 miles) where you can join the Offa’s Dyke footpath across to the Hay Bluff. For a more leisurely view of the countryside, take a ride on the Pontypool and Blaenavon Railway (6 miles). The Big Pit National Coal Museum (6 miles) is well worth a visit to learn about Wales’ mining history, while Raglan Castle (11 miles) has lots of history to explore. And for glorious dog walks or pleasant cycle rides, visit Cwmcarn Forest (17 miles), hidden within the valleys.
