Lose yourself in nature at this wonderful riverside cottage, perched on the bank of the River Wye. You’ll be 1 mile from Glasbury, a pretty village with a shop and a pub serving up tasty fare. Locally, hike through National Trust land in The Begwyns or enjoy wild swimming in the river, then head back to your rural retreat for quiet evenings in, admiring the views from your large garden. With room for seven guests, this gorgeous home is wonderful for a family holiday, with two dogs welcome to join you.

As you approach the cottage via a private driveway, listen out for the soothing sound of the river flowing nearby. The extremely spacious open-plan living area has huge floor-to-ceiling windows letting in plenty of light. Wooden accents (including ceiling beams) create a sense of tradition. Love a film? You’re in luck – the property boasts a full-size projector screen for a cinematic experience. Upstairs, the three roomy bedrooms all offer stunning views of the surrounding countryside. The private walled garden is a true sanctuary, with a wooden-framed conservatory and a covered bar area with a wood burner and a fire pit. Expansive lawns offer ample space for relaxation, dog frolics and children’s games. The cottage is surrounded by its own lush grounds – excellent for morning dog walks and quiet moments to yourself before breakfast.

There’s plenty to do without needing the car, whether that’s paddleboarding on the river or wandering along the Wye Valley walking path with your waggy-tailed companions. The 4-mile stretch between Glasbury and Hay is ideal for mountain biking, rock climbing and horse riding. Starting just 4 miles away is the Brecon Beacons National Park, offering up miles of trails of hilly and mountainous land. If culture is more your thing, while away an afternoon at Hay-on-Wye (5 miles) visiting bookshops and perhaps watching a film at the arthouse cinema.

5* House, beautifully renovated. Decor and furnishings were stunning with a mix of new and vintage pieces. The kitchen/lounge area was very sociable and comfortable. Loved all the doors and windows. Amazing downstairs bathroom and all the bedrooms had really comfortable beds. Lots of amazing outside areas for sitting and socialising. The fire chimnRead moreey beside the conservatory was used every night and the lights everywhere were magical. Lots of fun playing darts and on the river. A fantastic house! Hide
