Enjoy forest, riverside and coastal walks when you stay at this welcoming holiday home in the rolling countryside of Mid Wales. Nestled in the village of Ponterwyd, the two-bedroom, single-storey retreat sleeps four guests and, with a lawned garden too, is also happy to welcome a furry friend. Just 13 miles from the sea at Aberystwth, it could suit families hoping to spend a day or two on the beach during their stay.

Make your way into the light, airy property via the hall, where you can shuffle off your wellies or untie your walking boots. Head through to the kitchen to unpack the fresh Welsh provisions you have sourced on your trip out and to make a cup of tea to go with a slice of the fresh bara brith you have bought. Carry your plate through to the lounge/diner, where you can relax on the soft seating or at the table. Find a film that everyone will enjoy on the Smart TV, read your books or consider the following day’s activities. When everyone is ready to turn in for the night, head through to either the king-size bedroom, with Smart TV and en-suite shower room, or the twin bedroom. There is also a family bathroom. Spill out into the lawned garden to the front of the house or dine out on the patio to the rear on sunny days. There is a garage here with space for bikes and other outdoor equipment.

Plan a trip out to the spectacular Devil’s Bridge Falls, 3.5 miles away, in the heart of the Cambrian Mountains. While away an afternoon or two in Aberystwth, where you can wander its shopping streets and dine out in its eateries. From here, you can also take a scenic ride along the Vale of Rheidol Railway.
