This charming stone cottage, which still bears the datestone of 1816, sleeps four guests and is ideally placed to explore the attractions of this lovely corner of Anglesey. Beaumaris is a captivating seaside town with a fascinating mixture of buildings, from Victorian to medieval. Take a stroll through the streets and admire the picturesque cottages, often painted in soft colours. There are many independent shops, excellent restaurants and lively cafes where you can stop for refreshments before heading for the seafront. This lovely walk takes in the pier and wonderful views across the Menai Strait to the mountains of Snowdonia. From here, catch a boat to Puffin Island or look out for wildlife on a seacoast safari. Visit historic Beaumaris Castle, a designated United Nations World Heritage site, and discover why this massive edifice is classed as an unfinished masterpiece. Also well worth seeing is the impressive 12th-century Penmon Priory (4.5 miles) and the huge dovecote nearby, which dates back to 1600.

Steps from the road lead to the semi-detached cottage, which is all on one level. An entrance hall opens to the living room, full of light from the two-period sash windows. There are two leather sofas where you can take it easy in front of the Smart TV and cosy, flame effect gas fire. A fine antique Welsh dresser displaying beautiful contemporary Portmeirion pottery and prints by a local artist add extra interest to this welcoming room. The spacious kitchen has a cream colour theme, with sleek units and attractive dining and chairs in the same shade. From here, a door leads to a small sunroom with large fun bean bags to use either inside or out. Both bedrooms are stylishly furnished, with Hypnos mattresses to ensure a peaceful night’s sleep. The king-size bedroom has a lovely view of the pretty church opposite from its sash window, while a twin bedroom with a TV overlooks the rear garden. A spacious bathroom provides a bath, large shower cubicle and WC. There is also a cloakroom with a WC,

To the front of the cottage is a small lawn. To the rear, a large courtyard garden enclosed by stone walls has a mixture of grass and paving, making it an ideal place for children to play. There is sturdy garden furniture and a handy BBQ, perfect for a tasty supper after a great day out.

Hen Ysgol is a wonderfully comfortable place fully equipped with everything you could need for a peaceful, memorable stay. Great location a few minutes away from the centre and all level apart from the few steps up to the cottage. Loads of great places to eat out. Lovely clean and comfortable cottage.

We have been self catering for 40 years and this is one of the best properties we have had. We always look for pet free properties due to one of the party having allergies and this type of property is hard to find. The position of the property was very convenient for the shops and sea front but lovely and quiet.
