Property code: OC-91710

This former barn, a luxury getaway for a family or two couples, is situated on the northern edge of the handsome seaside town of Barry and close to the stunning Glamorgan Heritage Coast. The town of Barry itself is just 2.5 miles away, with plenty of places to eat, drink and shop, a pleasure park, tourist railway and, of course, the lovely sandy beach of Whitmore Bay. The property is only 9 miles from Cardiff and, with great road, bus and train links (Barry station is just 1.6 miles from the cottage), it is an ideal place to stay while attending a sporting event in the Millennium Stadium or elsewhere in the city. As well as its huge selection of shops and restaurants, Cardiff offers many all-weather activities, including an indoor water park and Olympic pool, and the International White Water Centre.

The property is one a pair of adjoining holiday cottages that won an award when they were converted in 2015. All on one raised level, it has high ceilings, beautiful original beams and stone floors. The open-plan lounge/dining area has comfortable leather sofas and fully glazed bifold doors that lead to the balcony – so you can throw them open and enjoy the feeling of space and fresh air. The kitchen at the far end of the room is fully equipped with cupboards, worktop space and utensils – perfect for preparing a snack or a family meal. The pretty double bedroom with its en-suite shower room is beyond the kitchen, while the king-size bedroom and en-suite bathroom is just off the lounge.

Outside the cottage a large, lawned space (adjoining the neighbouring property) gets the sun all day. There is a BBQ on site, a secure bike shed and storage space for sporting equipment. Directly off the lounge is a private, decked balcony with superb views over the Vale of Glamorgan and the Dyffryn Country Estate.

Lovely cottage which formed a base for my elderly mum and I to visit family for a few days. We had a few questions before booking as my mum's mobility is not great these days and these were answered honestly and efficiently. Perfect location, only wish we had a bit more to time to explore the surrounding countryside rather than just a few days.

We enjoyed our stay very much. The property was perfectly located for catching up with family in Cardiff and enjoying the beautiful coastal walks. A cosy cottage for returning to after days out.

This cottage is the perfect balance between bucolic charm and modern comfort and convenience. Overlooking a tranquil vista of fields, hedgerows and rolling hills, the location is ideal. Close to amenities like the supermarket around the corner, the airport a few minutes drive away, and the many attractions of Cardiff and its environs, it's also priRead morevate, secluded and peaceful. Tina and Christopher were great hosts and the cottage was equipped with everything we needed. In short, we had a heavenly stay. Hide

Overall lovely cottage. Just needed extra storage and more towels. 1 towel for a week per person is not enough.

Dove Cottage was absolutely gorgeous with breathtaking views . Everything there was to an extremely high standard and it was a privilege to have stayed in such beautiful accommodation. I will certainly be recommending it to my family and friends and hope to have the opportunity to return there in the not too distant future.
