This semi-detached cottage is part of a fantastic barn conversion in a blissfully quiet location. Lovingly restored and renovated by its owners, who will be sure to give you a warm Welsh welcome. Enjoy the far-reaching views, watch red kites from your window, or explore Glyndwr’s Way, half a mile from the barn. This home is surrounded by fields and organic farmland, yet is easily accessible, 2 miles off the A470 and 7 miles from the vibrant market town of Machynlleth, the ancient capital of Wales. Machynlleth boasts an array of independent shops, pubs and welcoming cafes, as well as the oldest street market in Britain, which is held every Wednesday. Head out to the beautiful beach at Aberdyfi (17 miles), or seek out adventures in the Snowdonia National Park that begins less than 10 miles from your door. Talyllyn’s narrow gauge railway (20 miles) offers a great day out, as does the Centre for Alternative Technology (10 miles). Bird watchers will love The RSPB’s Ynys Hir Nature Reserve (13 miles) and Dyfi Osprey Project (10 miles). Also highly recommended is a trip to Aberystwyth (25 miles), home to the National Library of Wales. On the way home, treat yourself to a fine meal and a film at Borth’s boutique cinema and restaurant (20 miles).
The many original features of this delightful barn conversion have been lovingly preserved to maintain its rural charm. Entering via a spacious hallway, the ground floor opens out to a large open-plan living space with slate floors underfoot, solid wooden beams, exposed stone feature walls and underfloor heating. The bespoke kitchen is well appointed, featuring handcrafted Welsh oak units and a thick slate worktop. The cosy lounge area offers comfortable seating in front of a welcoming wood burner, with the dining table strategically placed to take in views up the valley towards the Cambrian Mountains on the horizon. There is also a handy cloakroom on this ground floor. Climbing the stairs to the first floor, more feature stonework is on display in the stairwell. Upstairs, enjoy views of the valley and mountains beyond from the comfort of your inviting king-size bed or the stylish rocking chair in the master bedroom. A lovely twin room is tucked under the sloping eaves adjacent. A contemporary family bathroom continues the slate and stone theme and completes the property.
Outside is an enclosed patio area along the front of both cottages, with a private corner for each cottage on either side of the central porch area. Take in the views from your garden table, without a road or car in sight, or enjoy a spot of al fresco dining using the charcoal BBQ provided. A separate games room with a pool table is located at the far end of the property, shared with the holiday cottage next door. There is also a further enclosed garden with a play area next to the property.
