  • Stylish barn conversion property on the shores of Bala Lake
  • A peaceful holiday retreat in the heart of Snowdonia
  • Plenty of finishing touches that make any stay here memorable

Property code: OC-BOW68

Enjoy a holiday for two in Snowdonia at this beautifully renovated cottage in the market town of Bala. Restaurants, cafes, shops and bars are only a few hundred metres away, and Llyn Tegid (Bala Lake) with its range of water sports, circular path and steam train, is also under half a mile’s distance. Many other major attractions are also within a short drive, including white water rafting (4 miles), Zip World Bounce Below (18 miles) and Coed y Brenin Mountain Biking Centre (23 miles). Bala itself also has its own leisure centre. The cottage forms part of a stunning conversion of barns on what was previously the owners' family farm, so guests also have the option of bringing family or friends along to the two other cottages on-site.

Inside, the ground floor has an open-plan living area with the kitchen, lounge and dining table all in one large room. It’s bright and light thanks to the neutral colour scheme. The kitchen, in one corner of the room, has everything a couple should need to rustle up delicious meals for their stay. The sofa is comfortable and makes sitting back and watching TV a truly relaxing experience for a guest’s stay. Upstairs, the bedroom has a king-size bed and TV. Original beams in the room nod to the building’s previous life while the modern grey bathroom has a shower over the bath.

Outside is a small patio area to the front and rear of the property. For al fresco dining, there is a table and chairs to the front of the house.

I wouldnt really call this a cottage. More like a luxury apartment. It is an attached property on both sides and hence you can hear most things said and done next door. Including noisy arrivals at 5am and early departures at 6. Parking was meant to be on flat area in front of property, this is incorrect as we were told to move our car to the car paRead morerk at the back. Internet speeds very poor, if you need this for your trip , take it into account. Cottage / Apartment itself was well fitted , clean and spacious. Location was walking distance to everything in the village of Bala. 1 hour to Mount Snowdon and 90 mins to Liverpool shopping. So pretty good. If my first few points dont bother you then its a good stay. Def detached real cottage for us next time with character. Hide

We realised that this property was convenient for Bala High Street - we wrongly assumed that the farm was down a driveway or lane - but not at the end of the high street on the A494. Parking was at the back on gravel, and if other residents had parked inconsiderately (as they were on our arrival) or there were multiple cars for any properties, theRead moren parking is tight. We found the downstairs to be dark and therefore the lights needed to be kept on at all times. Hide

We stayed in Y Cor (a one bedroomed cottage) for a week. The cottage is beautifully appointed, spotlessly clean and contains all the equipment, utensils etc that you are likely to need for your stay. The owners, Gareth and Monan, are very friendly and are on hand should you need anything at all. This is probably just about the best holiday accommodRead moreation that we have ever stayed in and it would certainly be our first choice if we holiday in the area again. We shall be recommending it to our family and friends. Hide

What a beautiful cottage, equipped with everything you need, even milk in the fridge. Very clean and a very high standard accommodation in my opinion. The owners are very friendly. We will be staying again.

This was in almost every respect a splendid property were we not over 5' 10" inches tall! The original beams gave us a real headache as it was almost impossible to avoid hitting your head in the bedroom and especially in the bathroom whilst taking a shower. Having undertaken a barn conversion ourselves we realise that the planning department may haRead moreve mandated that the beams remain but it would have been nice to have had this pointed out beforehand. But as already mentioned the property was beautifully equipped, spotlessly clean and the endless hot water was much appreciated after a hard days hiking! Hide

A lovely modern cosy cottage, spotlessly clean and well equipped. Nothing was too much trouble from the owners. We had a fabulous stay. The lake (with water sports) is only 10 mins walk one way and the village is right next door in the other direction. Scenery is lovely. Great if you like walking. Everything else is a drive away but there is whitRead moree water rafting close by and zip line not too far. We drove to Barmouth about 45 mins away. Hide

We honestly can't praise this perfect little holiday cottage enough. It was spotlessly clean, with a fresh modern decor. There were lovely welcoming touches-like some fresh flowers, Welsh cakes (which honestly lasted about 5 minutes after our 5 and a half hour drive) and a packet of waffles. We met Manon and her parents in law, who were all so frieRead morendly and sweet. They have a great knowledge of the area too. The cottage has everything we needed-a well equipped kitchen (with a dishwasher and washing machine, cleaning products and tea, coffee and a pint of milk), a comfortable living area and bedroom and a modern bathroom. The shower was really good too. Parking outside is ample and you can see your vehicle from the property. The cottage is well placed. Literally less than 5 minutes walk to Bala town centre and within easy reach of lots of attractions. We would definitely recommend this cottage and hope to return one day. Hide
