This welcoming property is set in the market town of Dolgellau and is around the corner from excellent cafes, tea rooms, restaurants and bars as well as a range of independent shops and a bike hire shop. You’ll have access to walks from your doorstep such as the Mawddach Trail, which follows an old disused railway line and Cader Idris, the highest mountain in Eryri. Head to the seaside resort of Barmouth, 9 miles away, for a sand and shingle beach, a picturesque harbour and fine views of Cardigan Bay or a take the Talyllyn Steam Train from Tywyn, 20 miles away, for a scenic route across ravines and through farmland and ancient woodland.

The light and modern kitchen has been designed to maximise the space and a slate floor gives a cool feel in summer and a comforting feel in winter with its heat retention properties. The large, inviting sofa in the living room is just the place to relax after a day out and about or to spend a cosy night in, especially as there’s an electric fire next to the dining table. A king-sized bedroom on the first floor has two foot spas for tired feet and a toddler room next door has a small bed, a changing table and safety gates as well as direct access to a bathroom with a double rain shower. Catch up on some reading or browse the array of books and maps on the comfortable armchair on the second-floor landing, which leads onto two more bedrooms. A spacious single room and another single room with a box of board games.

A small enclosed yard at the back of the cottage has a table and chairs and is a lovely spot for alfresco dining.

An excellent cottage which is right in the heart of Dolgellau which made walking to the local pubs and restaurants very easy. We had a great week at 4 Heol y Dwr. Given that the cottage is over 3 floors there was more than enough space for 2 of us plus our dog. I ended up using the top floor as a reading room and the ground floor lounge as a TV room. The location in central Dolgellau was ideal for us - a bike rental shop about 10 seconds walk away plus enough different puRead morebs and eateries to be able to have somewhere different to eat each night, eg the Royal Ship and Torrent Walks hotels were good, also the popular spanish restaurant was round the corner. There was a very handy bakery too. The cottage is a good base for various activities in the area - we went on the Ffestiniog railway and also to Zip World. We did the Torrent Walk, the Precipice Walk and some of the New Precipice Walk, also the Panorama Walk at Barmouth and cycled the Mawddach trail to Fairbourne and back. The Rhaeadr Ddu waterfalls on the Dolmelynllyn estate were impressive. Maybe next time we will tackle Cadair Idris as well as visit Portmeirion. Hide

Property was comfortable, well equipped and the standard of furnishings was great. The secure, dedicated parking space was a Godsend as parking was at a premium. A great location within the town and close by to numerous places of interest. Contact from the owners was very prompt.
