The house is ideal for walkers and cyclists, with plenty of trails and walks in Coed y Brenin Forest, which is just 1.5 miles from the front door. There is also direct access to many trails from the cottage itself. There you can discover the natural beauty of the Rhaeadr Mawddach and Pistyll Gain waterfalls. A little further away is Cader Idris (16 miles), the highest and one of the most popular peaks in South Snowdonia. Dolgellau, a town steeped in history with many independent shops and restaurants is 9 miles away. Fairbourne Beach (16 miles) and the remains of Harlech Castle, (18 miles) a magnificent coastal fortress, are well worth a visit.

There are several steps up to the front door of this lovely retreat with a cosy, modern feel and retaining beautiful, exposed beams. From the entrance, you step into the bright open-plan living area with a comfortable sofa, armchair and Smart TV. The kitchen is fully equipped for all your catering needs and has lovely slate worktops. A separate double bedroom with an en-suite bathroom is the final feature of this delightful property.

We really enjoyed our stay in "Y Dowlod" at Gelli Goch. The properties here are in an excellent location for visiting the southern region of Snowdonia National Park and the Mawddach estuary, we didn't need to drive far to get anywhere and some days walked directly from the property. We liked the design and feel of the interior of our converted loftRead more with the solid wooden flooring and slate worktops. It is cosy for two and was always warm when returning from a day out on the hills, it was even nicer to know that the place was heated and powered with a green energy system - even the toilet flushed with harvested rainwater! The mattress was a little hard for us but that might just be personal preference. Very friendly hosts and the welcome pack of goodies was a nice touch. Hide

This is a great location for Dolgellau and Barmouth (south) and Criccieth, and Harlech (north then west). Plus easy access to the south sides of Snowdon. Very nice, compact and easy flat to stay

Comfortable, well equipped and cosy cottage even if the weather is poor. Good location for visiting much of the Snowdonia national park or even further afield such as Anglesey or the RSPB reserve at Ynys-Hir

As railway enthusiasts, we found Gelli Goch to be a good central base from which to visit the narrow gauge lines in North Wales.
