This cosy cottage, which has been stylishly renovated yet retains original features, is an ideal base for couples or families who want to explore the scenic outdoors of North Wales’ Snowdonia. The home-from-home is in the picturesque, rural village of Dinas Mawddwy, with walking routes from your doorstep into the surrounding hills and forests. The village also boasts a cafe and a pub for post-rambling refreshments. As a gateway to Snowdonia National Park, you needn’t travel far to climb mountains with a guide, cycle renowned tracks in Coed Y Brenin Forest Park (17 miles) and see the spectacular natural surroundings. Follow the Mawddach Trail (12 miles away) on foot or your bike and end up at destinations like Barmouth (18 miles) where there’s a Blue Flag-awarded beach and restaurants for romantic or family dinners.

Return to your home from home and leave coats and muddy boots on the porch before kicking back in the ground-floor living room, where traditional features meet stylish furnishings. Relax on the modern sofa or armchair beside the feature stone wall and ceiling beams. Get the wood burner crackling in its red brick fireplace and turn on the TV for entertainment. The open-plan space leads to the kitchen, where ceiling beams sit above the modern, painted units. There’s a small table for dining, and patio doors lead to the outdoor space where there are further al fresco dining opportunities. Head up the wide staircase and make sure you stop to admire the landing where there’s a feature wall, wooden beams and oak cottage doors. The first floor’s tiled bathroom is stylish, and the shower boasts a mineral shower head to help you rejuvenate after your outdoor pursuits. The double bedroom is a cosy resting place with a bright feature wall, a ceiling beam and stylish accessories. By the steep staircase that leads to the second floor, you'll find a small space with a dressing table, drawers, hanging rail and suitcase storage space: it makes a great dressing room. Head to the second floor to find the small attic room with low platform twin beds. As these are zip-and-link, they can combine to make a super-king-size on request. This room is like a cosy den with its triangular ceiling, skylight window and Smart TV, all lit by fairy lights to create the perfect snug atmosphere. The ceiling in this room is low, so guests should mind their heads - or it may be more suitable in size for children.

Take your relaxation and romantic or family dinners outdoors, via the ground-floor patio doors, to the private courtyard and garden, which has steps. Share meals in the fresh country air at the garden table, making use of the charcoal BBQ. There’s a lawned area which your dog will enjoy, and fairy lights mean you can continue the fun as evening falls. The secure shed in the courtyard houses the washing machine and tumble dryer and has space to store two bikes - handy for those cycling trips.

Lovely cosy cottage in a quiet location but within easy reach of lots of places with things to do, walks etc., even in typical Welsh weather. Our children (10 and 12) loved the loft room but may not be suitable for taller guests! The Caffi down the road was very friendly and welcoming, even providing water, blankets and sausage for the dog. We Read morewould definitely recommend Tanyrallt to others. Hide

A perfect cottage for a small family and dog. Loved the village location. The cottage is beautifully refurbished and kitted out and is very cosy. We had a great stay and would definitely return. There's a lot to do in the area if you're into outdoor activities and industrial heritage.

This holiday cottage is super cute. It has been renovated brilliantly and is really cosy and welcoming. It has everything you need for a Welsh weekend away. We headed to the beach one day and for a long walk into the Welsh hills the next. There is parking and a secure garden which was brilliant for the dog.

Lovely stay, cottage has everything you could need. Great local walks, lovely beaches nearby and fab location to explore Snowdonia national park. One tip bring bring some snacks with you as we struggled to find a local shop although the cafe nearby had an amazing selection of cakes. Great place for families and our dog loved it.

Just amazing! Lovely relaxing stay, very thoughtful welcome basket which we enjoyed the New Year's Eve. We really enjoyed Anglesey Island, all the nature and all the delicious welsh food. Our favourite pub was George III, the food is lovely and they gave extra attention to our dog. We hope to come back very soon, it felt like home. Thank you for Read moreeverything. Hide
