Nestled high in the Black Mountains, it's the most soulful of settings, a deeply luxurious retreat awaits. Dedicated to providing the very best in relaxing, romantic stays in a truly unique location.  Walk directly on to ancient paths and drover trails, drink in the sublime views as well as the fresh onsite spring water, detox in the spa & snuggle by the log fire. Complete bliss, perfectly designed just for two...plus up to two well behaved dogs of course.

The Brecon Beacons National Park is fully worthy of its International Dark Sky Reserve Status and the cottage, perched on the slopes of The Black Hill is aptly named with sublime views both day and night.  Set amongst quiet organic farmland, there is a deep sense of tranquillity stemming from its ancient origins, with medieval roots and natural springs lending a wonderful sense of mystery and intrigue to the unique setting.

Inside, the cottage is warm and welcoming, sympathetically renovated, with traditional craft techniques and materials throughout, and a cheery blend of contemporary style and classical beauty. Artwork by a local artist line the walls. The new spa and sauna is a fabulous modern addition, with some of the best views we've seen from a day bed.  Sessions may be booked at a cost starting at £70 for 2 hours.  All full range of spa and massage therapies can be organised with the owners if notified in advance, including beauty treatments and Reiki, yoga, ballet and pilates, or guided walks and bike rides.

Originally the hay loft for the farm, the living space now houses a smart, fully equipped kitchen with smart dining table, perfect for two, yet easily large enough to invite a couple of friends to dine too.  A couple of steps lead to the sitting room with large wood burning stove, a generous basket of wood, as well as Smart TV, a Netflix pod, DVD and Wi-Fi throughout.

Upstairs is dedicated to decadence!  The large landing area has a linen sofa bed, which is great to lounge with a book, or converted into two single beds for the little people, bedding provided of course. The super king-size bedroom is our favourite room.  It is huge, with gorgeous French style bed from Loaf, a bookshelf full of holiday reads and inspiration for great days out and stunning views of the rolling Welsh Marches out beyond the window.....you just need to persuade the other half to bring you breakfast in bed!

You could easily spend a short break here without visiting the supermarket. Stock up at the award-winning village shop, Hopes, in Longtown for local fayre on the route in, or arrange a welcome pack with the owners (full details available in the owners' welcome email). Dine at the local pub and farm restaurants throughout the weekend. There is a high level of additional service at this cottage, with a warm and friendly welcome, assistance and advice on where to visit if you need it and afternoon tea could be delivered direct to your door if arranged in advance with the owner.

Honeymooners are in for an extra treat with a complimentary bottle of champagne upon arrival. An exceptional holiday is just waiting to be had, the perfect place for a proposal, a honeymoon or rekindling the fire!

For those looking for a place to work from home, and relax when not working, choose Starlight Cottage or Black Hill Barn where the internet connection is super speedy, with a fibre optic connection and speeds of over 350mbps you can rest assured that the Zoom meeting or file transfer will not fail.

This romantic cottage is connected to Black Barn Hill (42881) and it is possible to book both properties.

Great and peaceful setting. Much to see in a 30 mile radius or just relax on the terrace on the side of the cottage. Also recommend the spa facilities, not least a massage.

A really comfortable cottage in a stunning, peaceful location. The bed was large and comfortable so we slept well. Breakfast on the enclosed terrace was gorgeous in the morning sunshine. Some lovely walks straight from the door although some styles in the area are not at all dog friendly - we had to lift our border collie over them. If you like casRead moretle ruins then Longtown and the three castles near Abergavenny (White Castle, Skenfrith and Grosmont) are worth visiting. Hide

A beautiful cottage, very well equipped and very comfortable. It was a pleasure to return at the end of each busy day, discovering the wonders of the area. It was warm and comfortable. The views, when it stopped raining, were amazing. The approach is along narrow country lanes, so be prepared for some interesting journeys.
