Part of the famous Welsh Three Peaks, the imposing mountain of Cader Iris sits close by (15 miles) and is a challenging day out for any budding hiker. Not to be deterred, the area also boasts plenty of more easy-going routes. Head to Ganllwyd (16 miles) to follow routes along the Rhaeadr Ddu waterfalls or discover the ruins of the Cefn Coch gold mine.
