Property code: OC-89523

A charming cabin hideaway for two in the foothills of the Black Mountains offers a peaceful haven with glorious rural views. Located in Craswall on the Herefordshire/Wales border, it is the perfect spot to explore this unspoiled landscape. The secluded cabin overlooks 300 acres of mature woodland and farmland yet is within 4 miles of the lively market town of Hay-on-Wye with its shops and restaurants.

Designed in contemporary style, this appealing retreat has an open-plan layout, comprising a lounge with a comfortable sofa and TV, a compact kitchen with all you need to cook a simple meal and a cosy double bed. A shower room completes the interior. Patio doors from the living area open to a raised, decked terrace with a table and chairs; ideal for outdoor dining while admiring the beautiful outlook. The cabin sits at the end of a 100-metre path from the farmhouse below, with parking for one car and the use of a wheelbarrow to transport your luggage.

The Black Mountains are a walker’s dream. Put your boots on for a trek to the 676-metre summit of Hay Bluff or choose the Cat’s Back 5-mile circular path for spectacular views of the English and Welsh borderlands. Hike the Offa’s Dyke Path to see the imposing 900-year-old ruins of Llanthony Priory, once one of the great medieval buildings of Wales. Pony trekking in the mountains and canoeing on the Wye are other favourite outdoor activities. Hay-on-Wye, famous for its bookshops, has a beautiful riverside walk along the route of an old railway line.

Lovely Location, Nice equipped Lodge, Small space around cooking area, but adequate . Stayed during storm Claudia, so got drenched on many occasions, lodge could do with somewhere to dry clothes. We took our dog who loved the woods and streams. Very Very peaceful and beautiful decking area. Just unfortunate that it was two wet to use, maybe it coulRead mored benefit from having a canopy outside so guests could use the decking even when wet. Also some info on walks around the area would be helpful . Hide

Set in a beautiful location the property offers itself as a wonderful base for exploring the area. The pathway to the property is steep. If you have any mobility problems do your research before booking. The appliances for cooking are sparse and the area for food preparation is small, we lived on microwave meals all week. The shower room is more thRead morean adequate and the shower itself was hot and powerful. As I said, a great base for exploring the area but I don't think this was the property for us. Hide

The place is spot on. A point about the location, when going up the narrow road you get to a fork in the road, make sure you take the left narrow track to Craswall. It is a narrow track with passing places. As regards the Cabin, I wish we had one of these for ourselves, think that says it all.

Lovely cabin in a great location. All roads out are single track so narrow lanes. The hill to the cabins are quite steep so not for everyone. Beautiful views and walks and it stayed dry. A little problem with parking when I first arrived but otherwise a lovely place to stay
