Overlooking the River Usk and enjoying a tranquil location in the heart of the bustling town of Brecon, this delightful cottage makes a fantastic holiday destination for a family or couples. Providing relaxing accommodation for four guests, this delightful reverse-level property is a magical getaway, with a charming balcony providing an ideal vantage point for enjoying the sunshine and for spotting the passing wildlife, including herons, otters and kingfishers. Situated along the northern fringe of the Brecon Beacons National Park, this is a fabulous retreat for walkers, climbers and nature lovers exploring this enchanting area.

A few steps lead you up into the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. Featuring an oak floor and sloping ceilings with wooden beams, this colourful and attractively furnished room provides a fabulous living area. The lounge is ideal for catching up with a good book or snuggling together to watch a movie, while the dining area is a perfect space for everyone to gather to enjoy a family meal which you’ve prepared in the stylishly designed kitchen. Downstairs, the lower floor features a family bathroom and two calm and stylish king-size bedrooms. From the lounge, bi-fold doors open onto the balcony which overlooks the river and provides a lovely space for unwinding with a glass or two of wine. With a remote-controlled awning so you can keep in the shade, the balcony is a lovely spot for whiling away a summer’s afternoon.

The historic market town of Brecon features a variety of independent shops, restaurants, cafes and pubs. Brecon is also home to the Regimental Museum of the Royal Welsh, Theatr Brycheiniog, the 1930s-style Brecon Cinema and a magnificent 11th-century cathedral. Local landmarks and attractions include Llangorse Lake, Talgarth Mill, Pen y Fan, Tretower Court and Castle and the Storey Arms Outdoor Education Centre (all within 12 miles).

Perfect place to stay. Spacious, well thought out living area with some great art and wonderful to be so near to the river and birds. We were here during very warm weather but found the downstairs bedrooms thankfully cool, and the awning on the balcony really helped to keep the upstairs cooler. Dros yr Afon is a lovely cottage . It is clean and well equipped and I love the photos of old Brecon. It is a real treat to sit on the balcony and watch the Usk flow by. The host is local and very helpful. We'll be back !

Amazing views from a lovely well equipped property. Lots of nice places to eat and drink in the town and the gift voucher for St Mary's bakery was a lovely touch.

We had a really lovely stay, the cottage was just as described and really cosy. The care and attention of the owners really set this booking apart and was much appreciated. We'd definitely stay again, the local parkrun was great as well.

The cottage is prefect for exploring Brecon town and the surrounding areas. Its well stocked, warm in November and feels like home from home. Sue the owner responds quickly to any problems and has a wealth of information about the area. Museum well worth a visit. Lovely Walks along River Usk and Brecon Canal. We shall return for a longer stay

An extremely well equipped and comfortable cottage right in the middle of Brecon within easy walking distance of everything including a lovely walk along the river. Although there is good parking there was no need to take out the car at all.

The cottage was superb for accessing running and walking trails without needing to go out in the car. There was lots to do in Brecon when the weather wasn't so good as well. The cottage itself was spacious and very well equipped. The bedrooms were especially cool which was very welcome during the hot spell. We loved dining out on the balcony and waRead moretching the wildlife. We would thoroughly recommend this cottage for a comfortable stay and we hope to return. Hide

This is a really fun artsy place to stay in a great location. It was about a 5-7 minute walk to the bus stop and located in walking distance of many shops and restaurants. The bathtub was perfect after long days walking. The balcony was relaxing to sit on in the morning with a cup of tea and binoculars to watch birds. There is a river side path neaRead morer the home which is nice to walk on, but also some walks up to hills with wonderful views (Pen Y Crug) that are easy to get to. The hosts are lovely as well! A very pleasant house with a wonderful view over the river from the upstairs living-dining room. Bedrooms downstairs are slightly dark and cool - but heating is efficient and the June weather caused us to appreciate the cool! The owner Sue is lovely and very helpful - she prides herself on a well equipped kitchen, and when we commented on the lack Read moreof a balloon whisk, one arrived the next day. The one disadvantage is the drive - I learnt to fit in our VW Touran but my wife did not wish to try. Hide

This cottage is the best equipped that I have ever visited with a large selection of books and a lot of information about the attractions in the surrounding area. Sue and Kim's property has everything you would need and want for a holiday cottage. We were fortunate to have lovely sunny weather and could sit on the balcony enjoying the view out to the river. Despite being located on edge of town centre it was a quiet location. Sue kept in touch to check if we needed anything which was thoughtful of her. Will Read moreplan a return visit in the future. The cottage was very comfortable for a relaxing break. Brecon is an ideal town to have as a base to explore the Breacon Beacons and surrounding small villages. There is so much to see and explore with many places to have as a lovely meal and local shops to browse. Please do not hesitate to come and stay - you will love it. Hide

This was a lovely cottage. Everything we needed for a good holiday was there. Comfortable beds, lovely views and comfy chairs etc. Plenty of fluffy white towels. Plenty of shower gel and body lotion as well as hand wash and hand cream. Everything very comfortable.

This cottage is ideally situated to explore the National Park and is only a short walk to the centre of Brecon including all its shops pubs and restaurants. The cottage was really well equipped and very comfortable. The owners were very friendly and helpful.

A lovely cottage in the heart of Brecon. Very close to all amenities, mountains, waterfalls and stunning scenery. The cottage has everything you need so all you need to take are yourselves and clothing! Had a fantastic stay and made lots of memories.
