Pass the country pub as you drive down the lane, not quite knowing what to expect, then turn in and prepare to be very pleasantly surprised. Jack's Barn, named after the lovely farmer who lived and worked the surrounding land has been transformed from a once modest shepherds cottage to a top notch, luxury holiday home. Retaining all the charm and features of an old property, warming oak beams, dry stone walls, with tasteful contemporary additions, such as the brand new private and bubbly hot tub (included within the price) and wood burning stove.
Set in an acre of private land, the only house you can even glimpse in the distance is the owners roof top, available to help should you need them and happy to leave you in peace if you prefer. Offering the best of both worlds, Jack's Barn is just 20 minutes from the Severn Bridge, with easy access to Cardiff, Monmouth, Usk & Abergavenny, perfect for the country shows and food festivals throughout the year.
Downstairs is open plan, with travertine stone floor, baskets of logs for the woodburning stove, linen covered armchairs and sofa, as well as a farmhouse dining table and shaker style kitchen. Obliging chickens from the owner's farm will leave you some eggs and there a few other lovely welcoming goodies on arrival too.Upstairs you'll find an elegantly presented king-size bedroom, plus a cosy twin bedroom, each freshly decorated with Laura Ashley prints and Bronte throws. There is also an upstairs contemporary bathroom, with bath, over head shower, loo and basin. For convenience there is a downstairs loo and basin too.
Outside, you'll be thrilled by the size of the garden, well fenced and safe for pets and children to explore, there are sheep gently grazing in the distance, ducks quacking in the pond (safely fenced) and a pretty terrace set within the ruins of the old barn, which houses an outside table and chairs, plus, of course the hot tub. There is also a utility room and separate bike store available, both lockable and secure. Pets, kids, families and friends will all love it here....or simply rent it for two and luxuriate in a wonderful romantic escape in the Welsh countryside sampling a Michelin restaurant along the way!
