Run to the hills and escape to this glorious retreat perched on the edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park. Explore local villages and their cosy pubs, head out for spectacular walks with your dog and make a splash with a spot of water sports in nearby winding rivers. When you are all adventured out, settle down at home and lap up the inviting atmosphere as you set the wood burner roaring and curl up in style.

When the day’s exciting explorations come to an end, throw off your shoes, coats and leads in the boot room before heading through to the hub of the home. With plenty of space for a lively evening fuelled by a cold tipple or a feast rustled up by all hands on deck, the open-plan kitchen/diner is a bright space complete with breakfast bar where you can enjoy a moment of peace and quiet with a warming brew. Throw open the stable door and let the summer breeze flow inside or put your feet up in the sunroom. If a chill fills the air, step down into the cosy lounge and fire up the wood burner as you delve deep into a good book and switch off. Climb stairs to find the two brilliantly spacious bedrooms on the first floor. Unpack your belongings and make yourself at home in sumptuous bedding as you drift off and dream. Rise and shine, and head outside for a breath of fresh air by the stream.

Pack up a tasty picnic and step out into the wonderful national park for an abundance of adventures, including stick chasing for your four-legged family members. Travel 25 miles into the park and summit Pen-Y-Fan, the highest point in South Wales sitting at 886m above sea level. Abergavenny, known as the Gateway to Wales and home to the Food festival in September, is 4.5 miles from home and a great place to enjoy delicious food in Michelin Guide restaurants or dog friendly eateries, fishing and golfing amongst plenty more.

A beautiful property which felt immediately like a home rather than a holiday cottage. The settees were comfortable and supportive (this is one area where most holiday cottages fall short) and the king sized bed was also comfortable. The cottage was equipped with everything that you could possibly need and everything worked as it should.
