Head for the hills and enjoy a fairy-tale stay at this beautiful, bespoke lodge in Cynghordy, Wales. Surrounded by serene countryside 4.5 miles from Llandovery and the fringes of the Brecon Beacon National Park, the unique, one-bedroom cabin sleeps just two guests, making it ideal for a romantic stay. Set beside a stream and with a sunken fire pit for cooking out in the fresh air, this bijou Welsh holiday home could be perfect for couples who love spending time in the great outdoors and being at one with nature.

Let yourselves into this carefully created wooden cabin to discover studio-style accommodation, with a delightful open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner/bedroom. Prepare meals in the kitchen, then dine inside or out before relaxing on the soft seating to watch a little TV, read your books or simply look out over the greenery. When night falls, tuck yourselves into your cosy, double cabin bed, which has also been hand-crafted from timber. The hideaway includes a shower room. Spend as much time as possible out in the pretty gardens here, where you can cook on the fire and look for wildlife in the stream on sunny days. Have a cup of tea or a glass of wine on the covered veranda when the weather is less clement. There is parking for two cars at this holiday home.

Spend time in Llandovery, stocking up on fresh provisions and dining out in friendly pubs serving homecooked meals made with local, Welsh produce. Visit the smallest town in Wales, Llanwrtyd Wells, 7 miles away, too, to wander its streets and – if you are lucky – see the World Bogsnorkelling Championships. Plan walks and cycle rides through the beautiful Brecon Beacons. Enjoy a 5.5-mile walk around the scenic Usk Reservoir, 18.5 miles away, and follow footpaths through the surrounding Glasfynydd Forest.

Beautiful garden lodge, and streamside garden we saw every kind of bird and even a weasel! At night we saw the beautiful stars, and would have seen even more if we could have turned off the solar lights!. But a lovely place to stay. You can't walk into town and no buses, but we still had a great time.
