Set in the welcoming village of Blakeney, this attractive cottage is perfectly placed for exploring the Forest of Dean and the Wye Valley. Whether you are looking for a family holiday filled with adventure, or a group getaway with scenic walks, you’ll have everything you need close by. Once the coach house for the village hotel, this unique cottage has become an oasis of calm with its blend of original features and contemporary style. Curl up with a book in the garden room or retreat to the summerhouse after an afternoon BBQ with the family.

Enter through the original archway and leave coats and boots in the convenient hallway. With its stone fireplace and exposed wooden beams, the living area is bursting with rustic charm. Settle down for the evening on the bright and comfortable sofas where you can treat the family to a film night. Get cooking in the kitchen/diner, which has plenty of character, from the Belfast sink to the country dresser. Spend quality time together enjoying food made with love. The garden room is the perfect place for a cup of tea while admiring the garden. Upstairs are three beautifully decorated bedrooms and a family bathroom. Head outside and soak up the sun in the enclosed courtyard, which is set on several levels with old railway sleepers, a summerhouse, and a selection of seating areas.

Blakeney has all the essentials, including a chip shop, village shop and post office. Keen walkers will love the variety of trails nearby, such as the Gloucestershire Way that passes welcoming towns, nature reserves and ancient woodlands. Spend the day at Mallards Pike Lake just 4 miles away, with walking and cycling trails as well as canoeing on the lake. Attractions nearby include Puzzlewood, Forest of Dean Railway, Go Ape, and Clearwell Caves, all within 10 miles.

My friend and I thought that the cottage was great. Kate was really helpful and clear with her communications throughout, including sharing updates regarding the local road conditions (due to the storm) and letting us check out a bit later. The cottage is very nicely decorated and is very clean and homely, plus we were left a nice cake, biscuits anRead mored milk to welcome us! The location is ideal for the Forest of Dean. The only small downside is occasional music noise from the pub next door. Hide

We had a lovely winter break at the warm, comfortable and very well equipped Arch cottage. Pub literally on the doorstop, shop just across the main road. We found lots of public footpaths and winding narrow lanes to explore, doggy loved it. Would definitely stay again.
