Lose yourselves in the magnificent beauty of North Wales when you stay at this peaceful retreat near Llanfairtalhaiarn. Sleeping eight guests, the four-bedroom property nestles in gorgeous surroundings beside the River Elwy, 5 miles from Abergele. Designed by an architect, the single-storey cottage comes with a wood burner for winter nights in together and a hot tub for bubbling in at the end of each exhilarating day.

Approach the pavilion-style property via its private drive, crossing the river by the iron bridge. Enter to find inviting accommodation designed with your comfort in mind. Decide whether to head through to the snug, where you can fire up the wood burner and settle down in front of the Smart TV, or to watch something different in the lounge. The kitchen, which adjoins the dining room, has everything you need to help you whip up tasty meals for your party to enjoy at the table next door, perhaps with the garden doors open on fine days. Lay your head in one of the two king-size bedrooms or the two twins, treating yourself to a lazy morning in bed with the Smart TV on. There is also a family bathroom and a shower room. Spend warm days and evenings lounging in the garden, soaking in the hot tub, sizzling supper on the BBQ or stargazing around the fire pit. Explore the grounds, wander by the river, and ask for a permit if you like fishing. There is parking for four cars here.

Head into Abergele to stock up on fresh produce, dine out and go to the beach at Pensarn. Pick up the Wales Coast Path and walk 7 miles to Rhos-on-Sea. Have a day out to Llandudno, 16 miles away, with its beach, seaside attractions and cable car up the Great Orme.

Charming house in a beautiful location, really peaceful, spacious and comfortable. Very well equipped. Wonderful garden for the dogs and our young granddaughter and towels, bowls and shower head for the dogs. We had delicious scones, jam and cream and fresh eggs and some milk left for us on arrival, which was an amazing welcome experience. The hot Read moretub was a fantastic bonus and we used it every evening to relax after our granddaughter was in bed. Beautiful cottage, will definitely be back but will come in car as we were dropped off and it was almost impossible to get anywhere but that didn't detract from our long weekend. The hot tub was amazing. Lots of space in all the rooms, and very clean. Loved it!

Location couldn't be faulted - we loved the seclusion/solitude and sound of the river and birds. House is extremely comfortable with the addition of two sitting rooms suiting our needs perfectly. We used the hot tub daily, after days out to Aber Falls, Betys y Coed, LLandudno and Conwy - all places worth visiting.
