Perfect for a peaceful getaway from everyday life, this romantic stone cottage is set in a secluded position in the heart of the Welsh countryside, on the edge of the Clocaenog Forest and with breathtaking views to the Aran, Berwyn and Cadair Idris mountain ranges. It is located next to a smallholding with sheep, chickens (free-range eggs available), horses, dogs and cats. Walkers, cyclists, riders and anglers will love the wealth of outdoor opportunities in the area, which has a fantastic variety of routes, trails and tracks, and fishing rights on Upper Dee are included. There are numerous historic market towns and villages nearby, and other places of interest include Ffynnon Sara (Sara’s Well), Dinas Melin-y-Wig (Hillfort) and the Celtic Cross located at the old Church in Derwen, about a mile away. The historic market town of Ruthin, with its cafes, shops, art and craft centre and heritage gaol, is 8 miles away, while the stunning town of Llangollen is 16 miles away, where you will find walks and water sports, a canal offering horse-drawn rides and cruises to the famous Pontcysyllte aqueduct, an ancient Abbey and castle, a heritage railway and waterside cafes and pubs.

This handsome, two-storey cottage was converted with the aim of maximising space, light and a convenient layout, and has excellent eco-credentials of locally sourced materials, super-insulation and triple glazing. There are timber floors throughout, as well as high-quality furnishings and a co-ordinated colour scheme. From the open-plan hallway there are steps up to the comfortable lounge, where seating is gathered around the TV and wood burner. The well-designed, spacious kitchen/diner, with a vaulted ceiling and exposed oak beams, is a lovely room in which to spend time, and has additional armchairs by the glazed doors for relaxation. The shower room is also on the ground floor. Open-tread stairs lead from the lounge to the fabulous open-plan bedroom, with a king-size bed, beamed, sloping ceiling, full-length window and en-suite bathroom.

Take advantage of warm evenings and dine alfresco in the large, split-level patio, which has a table, chairs and charcoal BBQ.
