Spend your holiday in a quirky, romantic, riverside retreat. This unusual turf-covered roundhouse is in a fabulous setting and you can while away evenings dining alfresco and enjoying the warmth of the fire pit.

Step into Tolkien’s magical world with this hobbit-inspired romantic retreat for two. Set on a four-acre smallholding with the River Severn at the bottom of the garden, this truly unique turf-covered roundhouse is surrounded by peaceful grounds of wildflower meadows, chickens and plenty of quirky additions. When you’re not fishing for your supper or toasting marshmallows on the fire pit, take time to explore this stunning area of Wales that’s rich in fine architecture, cultural heritage and culinary delights.

Meticulously finished, this enchanting bolthole is sure to impress your loved one, whether they’re a Frodo fan or not. Step into the intimate lounge/kitchen/diner with its inviting king-size bed, hand-crafted kitchen area and underfloor heating to keep you warm during those chillier nights. In the mornings, prepare a delicious breakfast of freshly laid eggs from the resident hens before indulging in a revitalising hot shower. Throw open the doors to invite in the delightful sound of birdsong and the babbling river beyond. With a BBQ and fire pit, the garden is a magical spot to while away a summer’s evening.

This four-acre smallholding sits in an idyllic hamlet 3 miles from Llanidloes. Here you will find an array of cafes, pubs, restaurants, shops and galleries for stocking up on supplies or treating yourselves to a meal out when you’d rather not cook. A haven for walkers and cyclists alike, the local area boasts a choice of footpaths and cycle routes through the majestic rolling Mid Wales hills with plenty of romantic picnic stops along the way. If it’s fresh sea air you’d prefer, head 28 miles west to the spectacular sandy beach at Borth, a popular destination for swimming, walking and boating.

Hobbits Hollow embraces all that is the essence of living in 'The Hobbits' with so many decorative references to the book. Peter and Sharron were very helpful without being intrusive. The welcoming touches of home made cake, milk and fresh eggs were lovely. We enjoyed our break very much.

I cannot rate this hidden gem high enough. The pictures do not do it justice, it blew my mind and sets your imagination running wildly. Absolutely magical. So many hobbit houses are basic and modern inside and as soon as you enter, the magic stops, this just lights your imagination beyond belief. So private, and beautiful with the natural wildlife.Read more The personal touches of made soap and cake were so special and thoughtful. Hide

The setting was absolutely stunning. We loved that it was quite private so it felt like you had your own space. The small touches, like the disposable BBQ provided and board games and handmade soap in the bathroom were appreciated. The very warm welcome from Ozymandias the cat and Willow the gorgeous Welsh sheepdog topped it all off.

Extremely peaceful and private location with all you need for a quiet break. The hollow was lovely and cool in spite of us having hot weather for our stay, and the covered seating area outside was perfect for a barbecue. The information folder had some great recommendations for places to visit too.

What an incredible place to get away from everything! Sharon & Peter were on hand if we needed anything, but we were left to enjoy the peace and tranquility. Would recommend walking into Llandiloes for a shop, as well as taking a drive to Elan Valley! The Hobbit house was just amazing. Cosy, immaculate and just so relaxing. Can't wait to go back!
