As you enter the walled courtyard, the garden can't fail to impress, fully restored and beautifully planted, resplendent with raised pond, Welsh flagstones, cobbles and authentic plant borders. You'll definitely start to get that tingle that you've booked somewhere special!
Once inside, your gaze is drawn up to the fully restored oak ceiling, a testament to local craftsmanship, the beams criss cross the full length of the barn and lend an atmosphere of warmth and cosiness to a large space. In summer months throw open the oak doors that run across the barn and let the sunlight flood in, winter months, cosy up, with underfloor heating (loved by pets) and large log burning stove it's perfect for enjoying a wintery weekend in Hay on Wye.
At the far end of the barn, you'll find the soft seating area, with large sofas flanking the log burning stove, armchairs, cosy Welsh blankets and a large selection of holiday reads and magazines, designed for relaxing and chatting with friends. Further along the length of the barn is a large, deep filled sofa with a cleverly hidden large tv and dvd, which enables you to catch up on a programme or two, without disturbing anyone dozing by the fire.
The kitchen is thoughtfully designed, with large range, central island, essential dishwasher and all the crockery and cutlery you would need to entertain, caterers are available to help if needed. Moving through the kitchen you will find a boot room, with downstairs loo and washing machine, as well as lots of space for dog baskets, muddy boots and pushchairs.
There are five individually designed bedrooms in the barn, a downstairs double, with en-suite shower room, then four further bedrooms upstairs, including a super king size bedroom , a king-size bedroom with en-suite bathroom, a double and a twin, so something for every size of group! Each is elegantly dressed with crisp white linen, soft duvets and cosy Welsh blankets and there are a total of four bathrooms.
There is lots to do in the area, from hiring bikes and cycling into Hay on Wye, or pedal further along the Subtrans routes, hiring canoes or even Vespas from the nearby River Cafe. The Black Mountains are in very easy reach, as are the Brecon Beacons, with something available for every level of adventurer....armchair to mountaineer!
