Find yourselves in an open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, with beautiful beams and soft, understated decor. Relax in here with your books after exhilarating walks or switch on the TV with Freeview and DVD. Prepare tasty, homecooked meals in the modern kitchen area on those nights you fancy staying in, then dine together either inside or out. Take a 6.5-mile trip into England to see Arthur’s Stone, a Neolithic burial chamber, or venture 8 miles to see historic Snodhill Castle. The ruins of Craswall Priory, 5 miles away, are also worth seeing. Try canoeing in Hay-on-Wye or head to Glasbury, 4 miles away, to take to the water. Keen walkers might like to lace up their boots and climb Hay Bluff, a hill at the northern tip of the scenic Black Mountains, which is 5 miles from the cottage.
