Experience life on a working farm from this blissful barn which retains many of its original features and has been thoughtfully refurbished to create a cosy family holiday home in a gorgeous part of Wales. Set off on an adventure on the Sugar Loaf walk which towers over Abergavenny in the South of the Brecon Beacons National Park as the highest peak of the Black Mountains and you’ll be rewarded with picture-perfect views from the summit.

Take off your coat and shoes in the lobby before finding your way through to the open-plan living room/kitchen/diner. The terracotta-toned tiles, exposed stone walls and crackling wood burner all give the space a warm and welcoming atmosphere, with two cream sofas for you to sink into and relax. Sit up at the rustic dining table to enjoy a meal with your loved ones cooked up in the compact kitchen and make the most of the pretty views out of the window. When it’s time for bed, the bathroom offers a place to wind down with a soak in the tub. Finally, there are two bedrooms, a double and a twin, both with matching oak furniture and a country style. When the sun is shining, you can head outside to sit and sip your morning coffee before heading off to collect eggs from the free-range hens and meet the animals which live on-site. What’s more, a shared swimming pool (open from 2 weeks before Easter until October half term), a hot tub and a games room are all available to ensure you’re all kept entertained during your stay.

Indulge yourself on a shopping trip to the market town of Abergavenny (3 miles) where you’ll love the array of quaint coffee shops for tea and cake, as well as the interesting selection of shops for local produce and trinkets from your travels. Delve into the local history on a visit to the ruins of Abergavenny Castle, stopping off at the museum to gaze over their wonderful collection of artefacts and exhibitions. Or head further afield to Raglan Castle or Crickhowell Castle (both 11 miles) to get your fix of what life was once like in the area.
