Property code: OC-82392

Nestled amongst the rolling hills of the Welsh countryside on the banks of the River Usk, this contemporary lodge is ideal for friends/families. Known for its natural beauty and exquisite flora and fauna, the Usk Valley in South East Wales is located between the Brecon Beacons National Park and the Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, so walking opportunities are plentiful. And when you don’t feel like cooking, there’s a Michelin guide restaurant 1.3 miles up the hill and a farm shop a short stroll away.

Light and airy throughout, this single-storey property is immaculately styled with careful attention to detail. You’ll soon feel at home amongst the luxurious fixtures and fittings and will be reluctant to leave at the end of your stay. The traditional oak-framed porch is a great place to discard muddy boots before entering the property. There is a large open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner with comfy sofas, a well-equipped kitchen and floor-to-ceiling windows and double doors offering rural views. Beautifully presented, the two bedrooms wouldn’t look out of place in a boutique hotel, whilst the bath and shower rooms complete the accommodation. When the sun’s shining, throw open the double doors and enjoy al fresco dining on your private terrace against the stunning backdrop.

With so many trails nearby, including the Usk Valley Walk, hikers will be spoilt for choice. Keen adventurers can climb to the top of Sugar Loaf Mountain (10.5 miles) for the breathtaking panoramas. For something more sedate, but equally as beautiful, venture to the nature reserve and activity centre at Parc Bryn Bach (19.5 miles). If you’d prefer to explore the waterways, head to Goytre Wharf (3.5 miles) on the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal. History buffs, on the other hand, might prefer to visit the Big Pit National Coal Museum or Tintern Abbey (within 20 miles).

Beautiful lodge, very spacious with large, comfy beds. Smart TV's in each room is a bonus. Both the cottage and beautiful grounds are spotlessly clean. The Chainbridge Inn, a five minute walk away serves very good food, and can recommend the Sunday roasts. In the other direction, the Cafe Renaissance, a ten minute walk, serves good food, breakfast,Read more lunch or afternoon tea. Books and games are provided in the lodge, so if the weather is bad, always something to do. Hide

The accommodation was fantastic, set in gorgeous countryside and immaculately presented throughout. A very well stocked kitchen area with a sweet welcome pack provided on arrival. Roomy and comfortable, perfect as a base for visiting family nearby. Would highly recommend and hope to return over the next year or so.

The property was of a high standard, like home from home. We really enjoyed our stay at the property. It suited us well as four adults having access to two bathrooms and a lovely open plan kitchen/diner/lounge. The owners left a welcome pack of fresh milk, bread, butter and cheese. Highly recommend. We hope to return in the future.

If you are looking for accommodation that is well above the norm, this is for you. The owners obviously take great pride in the property with high quality fixtures and fittings - a real home from home. The location is excellent too, lovely and quiet but only a short drive from many attractions. A lovely cafe just a hundred yards away serves a lovelRead morey breakfast. We will definitely be back. Such a beautiful place! The property is spotless and spacious and very well decorated. The setting was so peaceful and we enjoyed exploring the grounds which are pretty extensive!
