Beautiful cottage in a fantastic location. You can really tell the property was built with love and care. Great for dogs and some fantastic walks from the doorstep. Wet room shower had great pressure and the heating was fast and reliable. Fire was lovely when returning from wet wintery walks. Will definitely stay again!!!!

Our second stay at this delightful cottage. It is the perfect size for us two and our two dogs. If its peace, quite and isolation from the din of modern life you are after, this is the cottage for you. Take a good book, fire up the log burning stove and watch the wildlife in the amazing view down the valley. The location of Border Retreat is just wonderful. If you're looking for a full-on getaway this is the place. The quiet is extraordinary. And the views, even on a cloudy day, are beautiful. The cottage is cosy, the bed huge and comfy and the surrounding area interesting to explore by foot or car.

Quirky detached cottage, ideal for getting away from it all. Setting and view fabulous, surrounded by fields, sheep. 11/2 mile from main road so seldom any other traffic. Log burner efficient. Table and chairs out side great to sit and have a coffee and watch the country side.

Cottage clean and adequate for walking holiday, but not for people who had problems with steep uneven steps from road to property carrying cases.

The cottage was in a fantastic location, the views down the valley were amazing. The garden was lovely to just sit and look at the views and the dogs enjoyed it. Steps down to the property very steep, so would not advise anyone with mobility problems. Cottage had everything you needed, might be to small if you had two dogs the size of labs. Rustic and quirky. If you like sleek and modern, this is not for you. Sofa is quite low and not easy to get up and down from if you have leg problems. 20 uneven stone steps down to cottage so not for those less able.
