Fantastic fishing nearby on the River Usk, with day permits available from the local shop. The Forest of Dean is within easy reach, with Go Ape. Tintern Abbey, Chepstow Castle, or the impressive Roman sites at both Caerleon & Caerwent are all accessible by car.
The accommodation offers TWO Bedrooms: 1 king-size with en-suite shower room. 1 twin with the option of a child’s roll up mattress (available on request). Bathroom: with bath, shower and WC located downstairs. Lounge: with woodburner, TV, DVD. Dining Room: with exposed beams. Kitchen: with electric oven and hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, freezer. Utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer, plus drying racks. Outside: A fully fenced rear garden with beautiful views, BBQ and outdoor seating in summer months. Linen, towels, under floor heating, electric and Wi-Fi included. Regret no smoking. 2 well-behaved dogs welcome.

WALKING & BIKING : Fabulous walks from the door, including a great route to the Star Inn across the fields & a beautiful old Kilgwrrwg Church to discover only by foot just 20 minutes away. Discover the Usk Valley in one direction, and the Wye Valley and Forest of Dean in the other. For those who love a more dramatic hill, then the Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons are in easy enough reach....plenty of trails for the most adventurous of travellers.
FISHING & SPLASHING : Fantastic fishing nearby on the River Usk, with day permits available from the local shop, Sweets in Usk. Kayaking and Canoeing readily available on the River Wye. Nearer to the cottage there is a lovely trail from the door down to the stream, perfect for summer picnics and playtime.
FUN IN THE FOREST : The Forest of Dean is within easy reach, with Go Ape, offering tree top adventures for the brave and Segway hire for those preferring to explore on wheels! Perfect for picnics by the lake, mountain bike (hire available) and walking trials through the woods. Historic Clearwell Caves within the Forest are giant tin mining caverns well worth a visit & the enchanting Puzzlewood has provided the backdrop for scenes from the recent Star Wars, Dr Who and Harry Potter, as well as having provided plentiful inspiration for JRR Tolkien.
CASTLES & CHURCHES : There is a parish church just five minutes walk up the lane, or stride out to discover local treasure The Church of the Holy Cross at Kilgwrrwg. Majestic Tintern Abbey is well worth a visit and reached within 15 minutes and other sites of interest include Chepstow Castle , or the impressive Roman sites at both Caerleon & Caerwent.
FODDER & FEAST : Usk Farmers Market every second Saturday is one of the best in Wales, Monmouth is on the other Saturdays. Great country pubs either by foot, or plenty of choice within 10 minutes drive including popular local, The Raglan Arms. Michelin star restaurants The Walnut Tree in Abergavenny and The Whitebrook in the Wye Valley, plus the Hardwick and Foxhunter all well worth a try.
FAB FOR FESTIVALS : Fox & Hounds Cottage is well placed for day trips to the Hay Literary Festival, Green Man music festival, Abergavenny Food Festival, as well as a busy racing calendar at Chepstow Racecourse, including the Welsh Grand National.
SLEEPS 2 - 4 (+1) : Two bedrooms, each with beautiful bed linen and towels included. An en-suite master bedroom with Loaf king-size bed and shower room. A twin bedroom with the option of an additional children's roll up mattress upon request.
LOAFING : Wood burning stove in the sitting room with TV, DVD, Wi-Fi, large sofa, armchair and heaps of holiday reads and games. Separate dining room with elegant dining table and chairs. Under floor heating downstairs and central heating throughout.
