Perched on the fringes of a traditional little village in the heart of the Forest of Dean, this delightful cottage has pretty touches in every room and offers a gorgeous retreat whether you want to escape as a couple or a family. The unrivalled view of the village below is breath-taking as you approach the front entrance of the property, offering you something sublime before you even step inside the holiday haven.

Heading into the cottage, you’ll discover all the charm and character of the dining room; a sympathetically restored space featuring an original bread oven and simple yet warm colour scheme. You’ll love being able to sit down with loved ones and enjoy a delicious supper together in the homely room.

Take a step into the lounge and you’ll find striking exposed beams and a warming wood burner, which combine to create a cosy atmosphere for you to unwind after a day of exploration. A subtle blend of muted tones adds to the calming aura of the space, where you can lounge on the comfortable leather sofas adorned with a plethora of cushions, curl up and watch a film together, or simply catch up with friends.

The contemporary kitchen, found at the rear of the cottage, is wonderfully equipped for you to perfect your culinary skills. From an electric oven, microwave, and fridge with ice compartment, to a dishwasher to save you getting your hands dirty and a washing machine if you so feel the need to use it, there are plenty of facilities available. The elegant Mandarin tiles also perfectly complement the worktops and tones, so not only will you have everything you need in one space, but it is a beautiful kitchen in which to cook.

On the ground floor you will also find a family bathroom. This beautifully tiled room gives you the opportunity to relax in style; draw a bath or enjoy a hot shower, washing away all of life’s stresses in an idyllic space.

When the day is done, climb the cottage style stairs to discover two gorgeous bedrooms, the first of which boasts a king-size bed at the heart of a chic, relaxing room. Elegant touches lend the room to be a pure delight to retire to at the end of a long day, plus it also has an exquisitely designed en-suite shower room with WC. The second of the two rooms also has a king-size zip-and-link bed (which can be made into a twin on request).

Outside, there are stunning views to be seen from the enclosed gardens, complete with a table and chairs. Whether you choose to admire the early morning sun whilst sipping a cup of coffee, or make use of the BBQ and enjoy dining al fresco of an evening, you’ll love the cottage’s outdoor space.

Dogs fees are charged per dog at £20.00 for up to 7 nights, £40.00 for up to 14 nights and an additional £20.00 for every week or part week thereafter.

A cracking Christmas getaway! The property is extremely well equipped and comfortable. Bread, milk, eggs and mince pies were awaiting us on arrival - a lovely touch. The log burner was a fantastic focal point. I would wholeheartedly recommend this property.

This was a really nice cottage that had everything you could need

Amanda, 28th September 2018

In many ways a very pleasant property. Important to remember it is a restored cottage. Comfortable beds with good linen. Very small living space. Lydbrook is limited.

Susan, 21st September 2018

The cottage is impressive; there are so many original features that make you imagine how it would have been when miners and their families lived there. The addition of an attractive, practical kitchen and bathroom make it ideal. The garden is secure for dogs and the view lovely. The cottage is perfectly situated to explore the Forest of Dean

Robert, 29th June 2018

A very comfortable, well appointed and lovingly renovated ex miners cottage. The original "2 up, 2 down" layout is retained with a modern L shaped single storey added to the rear containing the kitchen and downstairs bathroom. Cosy front room. Characterful dining room. Recommended with no hesitation Hide

Sunnyside Cottage was really well equipped and a great base to explore the Forest of Dean. The owners have done a remarkable job restoring the 200 year old miners cottage into a luxury abode. The garden is a great place to sit back with a G&T and watch the wildlife in the surrounding oak trees. The Forest is such an amazing place; it is so quiet buRead moret there is plenty to do and see.
