Alternative New Year breaks in Wales

Sarah 22 October 2019

A lot of pressure can often be put on New Year’s Eve to be the biggest party of the year but sometimes, simply being with the people you love most is enough.

We can’t think of anywhere we would rather spend new year than with our nearest and dearest in wonderful Wales. Whether you are seeking a quiet new year break in Wales just the two of you or an action-packed adventure holiday with the whole family, we have it covered.

A winter beach break in Wales

Beach in Wales

Who said beach breaks were just for summer? Swap swimsuits and flip-flops for coats and walking boots and instead of picnics on the sand, take a flask of tea to warm you up on long walks.

After exploring miles of empty sand, beachcombing with children and playing frisbee with canines, bundle into a cosy pub to warm up beside roaring fires with beautiful coastal views.

Wake up on New Year’s Day by the sea and start the year with the cool coastal air on your face. Choose from the vast beaches of Pembrokeshire, known for its particularly dog-friendly coast, or head to North Wales to explore that beautiful Llyn Peninsula or the unparalleled beauty of Anglesey.

If you’re feeling brave enough, you could even join in the New Year’s Day swim on Saundersfoot beach!

Really big houses for New Year

Big cottage

Christmas is busy, and big families and groups of friends can find it difficult to find time to see each other, so this is the perfect opportunity to get everyone together in the days after!

Our large cottages in Wales are designed to cater for big groups and often for groups which are multi-generational, some with extra special features that make them the perfect party house.

A popular feature for all age groups is a games room, often complete with pool table, table tennis and table football, and sometimes you will find a house with bedrooms especially dedicated to the children too. Cinema rooms are great for rainy days, and a hot tub is always a luxury to have!

Aside from all the extra features, our really big houses have social living spaces where you can come together to count down to the brand new year at midnight.
